RENOLITH is a polymer additive which, when mixed with normal Portland cement and in- situ soils sets into a stone or concrete-like material. It is strong, waterproof and stable. More importantly, It saves the construction cost.
About The Project
The Mhasarakarm Municipal had a plan to renovate the existing pond that is sandy silt, gradation A-5, unable to store water. According to a Thailand economic crisis and expensive concrete lining is not suitable method, so the RENOLITH concrete seemed to be an economical method.
The Objectives
1.To improve the qualities of sandy silt by mixing RENOLITH and cement in order to better its properties in terms of high density and water permeability.
2.To save the construction cost.
The Mixing Design
Cement 5% of dry soil by weight
RENOLITH 5% of cement by weight
Project Dimension
The construction procedure was separated into two steps:

Construction Time
Constructing during 31 August - 8 September 1999. Working 8 hours a day achieving 70 sq. or 8.75 sq.m. per an hour, by using 2 mixing machines and 16 workers.
Construction Producer
1.Site preparation
Excavating the in-situ soils and putting aside in order to reuse.
Shaping and marking the area before RENOLITH concrete casting and lining.
2.Mixing process
Dry mixing thoroughly the existing soils and cement.
Adding RENOLITH and water according to the mixed design then mix again.
3.Casting slab and lining
Casting slab for 2 layers at 10 cm. depth each layer and finishing like normal concrete method.
Lining the wall from the bottom to the rim of the pond by plastering at 15 cm. thickness and finishing like
normal concrete.
4.Curing process
Curing the finished project for 3 days and filling up the pond with water.

Section of Lining Renolith - Soil Cement Reservoir
Reservoir Design
Measurement : 625 m²
Type of soil : A5
Construction proceduer Preparation
1. Prepare the soil by grading off all organic
materials such as grass, wood, garbage, etc.
2. Reserve the amount of graded soil as for
mixed materials.
3. Compact the existing soil to meet density
required.
Construction
1. Mixture, mix graded soil and cement thoroughly
mix Renolith and water at designed ratio. Then, mix Renolith and
treated soil thoroughly again.
2. Compaction, compact those mixture on the
designed area both base and wall to meet density required.
